NCAA Tournament Bracket Update 3/12/06

Here is our latest bracket update. We will post a final update just before the NCAA Selection show.

Teams in BOLD italics have qualified as an automatic bid.

The list of qualified bubble teams that have been omitted from this year's bracket is a short one-Seton Hall, Michigan, Air Force, Maryland, Utah State, Creighton, Wetsern Kentucky. The only teams that we are vexed on is the Seton Hall Pirates. We had them as our last team out and before the day's end, we might put them back in. In studying the bracket, we are finding more teams that deserve to be left out than teams that should be out in. We are uncertain about Hofstra/George Mason and whether 5 teams get in from the Missouri Valley. We are also unimpressed with North Carolina State, Wisconsin, Alabama, Northern Iowa and Arizona. Traditionally the NCAA Selection Committee has been reticent to include teams that have finished poorly, like these teams. Unfortunately, this years seems to have very few teams with which to replace any of these teams that are slumping. We are confident that we have all 65 teams correct, but if we do miss on any one team, we feel it might be Seton Hall. Regardless, we stand by our brackets and look forward to when the selection deadline.
